2023 3rd IYAC New York Youth Art Competition

  This competition is organized by MySLide Corp. in association with GSEF Foundation, Space 776 Gallery (New York), State Senator Gordon M. Johnson of New Jersey, and Mayor Chong Paul Kim of Palisades Park. Selected artworks from the first round will have the opportunity to participate in an offline exhibition hosted at Space 776 Gallery (New York). In the final round, five outstanding works will be awarded the 'Winner' title, receiving the New Jersey State Senator's Award, while another five will be awarded the 'Gold Medal,' (Selected 5 awardees) receiving the Mayor of Palisades Park's Award. 


   2023 3rd IYAC New York Youth Art Competition aims to provide young artists with a platform to express their thoughts through various forms of art, experiencing the diversity of communication as integral members of society. Hosted by MySLide Corp. and in association with GSEF Foundation, Space 776 Gallery (New York), and supported by Gordon M. Johnson, a New Jersey State Senator, and Chong Paul Kim, the Mayor of Palisades Park, this competition encourages youth to explore and showcase their creativity. The competition will accept submissions from 13:00 on July 3rd, 2023 (Monday) to 23:00 on September 8th, 2023 (Friday) The evaluation committee, consisting of Professor Choi Soo-hee from Hongik University (Head Judge), artist Lee Bora, and artist Kim Seung-hyun, selected by the organizers, will thoroughly review the submitted artworks and conduct evaluations transparently and fairly.


  Space 776 Gallery is situated in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, at the heart of New York, and offers an impressive collection of contemporary art. A gallery that showcases emerging and established artists working across a range of mediums, from live multimedia performance art to traditional painting, is being exhibited. This gallery accommodates artists from around the world who present their works at local and international art fairs such as Volta New York, Volta Basel, Art Miami, Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary, and Art Busan. Artist and director Lee Jong-won opened Space 2013 in Brooklyn's Bushwick in the year 776. In 2020, the gallery relocated to its current residence at 37-39 Clinton Street on Manhattan's Lower East Side. Space 776 also opened a location in Seoul, South Korea in 2020, in line with the gallery's mission to promote international exchange between local artists in New York and the Korean art community.


  The 2023 IYAC New York Youth Art Competition, which is being held for the third time, aims to raise awareness of social issues among participants through creative artworks. It emphasizes the power of art and the value of communication, providing an opportunity to share diverse perspectives and opinions through the medium of art.

Contest Information

  • Title: The 3rd IYAC New York Youth Art Competition in 2023.
  • Size of Paper: Max 53cm x 45.5cm canvas or Max 39.4cm x 54.5cm paper 
  • Medium: Painting (digital art excluded)
  • Theme: Change and Adaptation 
    ○  Both title(less than 50 words) and description(less than 500 words) should be attached (English or Korean)

Theme : Change and Adaptation

  •  The theme of this competition is to observe the ever-changing aspects of our surroundings such as life, society, nature, etc., and explore how those changes impact oneself. 
  • It encourages participants to investigate the process and outcomes of change and to add artistic creativity from various perspectives such as personal change, social change, environmental change, etc. It would be beneficial to present new perspectives and ideas by infusing artistic creativity while exploring this theme.

The Selected First-Round Artwork Exhibition

   ※ The following information applies only to the first-round selected artworks

Offline Exhibition Information

  • Qualification of exhibition: 
    All first-round selected participants of the competition will be granted the opportunity to exhibit their artworks offline at Space 776 Gallery located in New York, USA.
  • Location: Space 776 Gallery. New York.
  • Exhibition Address: 37-39 Clinton St, New York, NY 10002, United States
  • Exhibition Date: 2023. 10. 17(Tue) ~ 2023. 10. 22(Sun)
  • Exhibition Photograph: The photograph of the exhibition space will be released on the official website
  • Exhibition Fee: 50% support for exhibition participation fee for first-round qualifiers [Exhibition participation fee, international shipping cost for artworks, exhibition photography and videography expenses: $380].

Works on Sale 

  • Sale content: During the exhibition, we are open for the sale of artwork to visitors who visit the gallery.
  • Sales Price : The sale price will be fixed by $500
  • Profit Donation :  Excluding sales and other profits, the profit will be donated to UNICEF under the author’s name and some of the remaining amounts will be sent to the winner.

Delivery of the selected first-round works exhibition

  • Delivery Period: 
    - For the exhibition at the gallery in New York, the following artwork delivery is required:
    - Exhibition and Sale Agreement Period: September 15th, 2023 (Friday) to September 27th, 2023 (Wednesday) 15:00 (KST)
    ※ In case of non-agreement, alternative selections will be made (participation in the final round requires mandatory offline exhibition and judging process after the first-round selection). 
    - Artwork Delivery Period: September 15th, 2023 (Friday) to September 27th, 2023 (Wednesday)
    ※ Only artworks delivered within the specified period will be accepted.
  •  Delivery of First-Round Selected Artworks from Korea and Other Countries (*Excluding the USA and Canada):
     - For domestically selected artworks, they will be collected at our designated collection point in Seoul, Korea, and then shipped to the gallery in the USA for exhibition.
     - Artwork delivery must be completed by the specified delivery deadline (September 27th, 2023, Wednesday). Only artworks with shipping invoices stamped within the specified period will be sent to the gallery in the USA for exhibition and undergo the second-round evaluation. Please ensure timely artwork delivery for smooth overseas shipping and exhibition. 
  •  Delivery of First-Round Selected Artworks from the USA and Canada:
     - For first-round selected artworks from the USA and Canada, they will be directly collected at Space 776 Gallery where the exhibition will take place.
    - Artwork delivery must be completed by the specified delivery deadline (September 27th, 2023, Wednesday). Only artworks with shipping invoices stamped within the specified period will be exhibited and undergo the second-round evaluation. Please ensure timely artwork delivery for a seamless exhibition process.

Notification Regarding Exhibition

  • If the submitted work passes the first screening, you will be notified via the registered personal email and phone number, and a page for collecting exhibition and sales related information will be sent to inform you of the detailed schedule.
  • Work delivery should be made before the deadline (2023. 9. 27. (Wed)) and foreign delivery will be made for the work that has invoice mail that meets before the deadline. Please send the work beforehand to prevent any exceptions. 
  • The exhibition participation and exhibition fee will not be refunded if the invoice mail is not inscribed or the work is not properly delivered under the sender's responsibility. Also, the exhibition certification will not be published and the institution will not undertake the responsibility regarding this issue. 
  • After exhibition, the award, exhibition certification, and the work restitution will be sent based on the information received in the application site portfolioroom.org The institution will not be responsible for the loss and damage made by the incorrect address inscription 
  • If the works are on sale during the exhibition, the works with sale consent will be sent to the buyer after the exhibition. Sale certification and receipt will be sent to the author and donation to UNICEF will be made under author’s name after receiving donation consent. 
  • In the case of images and videos taken during the exhibition, they will be posted on individual pages of our homepage, myslide.org, 2 to 3 weeks after the exhibition is completed.
