Exhibition Process

The 2024 KAJAA: Korean Youth Art Festival accepted submissions from March 22 (Fri) to June 13 (Thu), 2024. The competition concluded successfully, and approximately 460 selected works from the preliminary round were showcased offline at the MARU ART CENTER in Insadong, Seoul, from October 17 to October 22, 2023. The festival progressed through the following stages — from the initial competition to the final exhibition of award-winning works.

1. Art Competition Organization

Through a partnership between Edu Chosun and Visual Design YEAR, a national youth art festival project was established.

The competition accepted submissions from March 22 (Fri) to June 13 (Thu), 2024, and was organized as part of the Youth Art Festival Project initiated through the collaboration between Edu Chosun, a subsidiary of The Chosun Ilbo, and Visual Design YEAR.

Edu Chosun and MySlide Co., Ltd. signed a business agreement for the 2024 Visual Design YEAR project with the goal of enabling Korean youth to discover their artistic talents and foster interest in creative expression.

2. Submission Management and Evaluation

Submissions and evaluations were managed through a proprietary online web solution.

Participants submitted their works via Portfolioroom.org, an online platform operated by MySlide Co., Ltd.

For the evaluation process, a panel of judges selected by the organizers — Chief Judge Ji Seok-cheol, Professor Kim Geon-il, Artist Lee Sang-won, and Professor Lee Bo-ra — carefully reviewed all submitted works to ensure a transparent and fair assessment.

3. Award-Winning Works Exhibition

The exhibition of award-winning works was held at the Special Hall of MARU Art Center in Insadong, Seoul, a large venue spanning approximately 330 pyeong, showcasing around 460 artworks from July 31 to August 4, 2024.

Once the evaluation process determined the winners, they were given the opportunity to display their original works in a major gallery in Insadong.

The festival also offered the sale of participating works, aiming to provide young artists with hands-on experience in artistic creation, professional insight, and the opportunity to independently cultivate their cultural literacy.

4. 2024 KAJAA Awards Ceremony

The 2024 KAJAA: Korean Youth Art Festival Awards Ceremony

celebrated outstanding works that demonstrated exceptional creativity and expression, honoring the winners with prestigious awards. Through the judges’ in-depth evaluations and comments, participants were given valuable opportunities to grow and develop their artistic skills.

This ceremony was envisioned as a meaningful and inspiring moment for young artists, recognizing their achievements and encouraging their future artistic endeavors.

5. Exhibition and Artwork Sales

The KAJAA exhibition offered a special opportunity to purchase works submitted by participants.

The displayed pieces were unique artworks filled with the creativity and passion of young artists, and sales provided direct support for their artistic activities.
