2026 Global Youth Art Contest Exhibition

19 Aug, 2026

23 Aug, 2026

Now in its 6th year, the Global Youth Art Contest ran for about two months starting last May. This exhibition features the works that advanced through the first round, chosen for their craftsmanship and creativity — a showcase of young artists' passion and potential from around the world.

The Beginning of a New Connection

This year's theme, 'The Beginning of a New Connection,' is brought to life through works capturing the first moment young people encounter and engage with an unfamiliar world.

These young artists crossed boundaries — between self and other, generation and generation, the familiar and the new — to depict the possibility held in a moment of connection. Brought together from different starting points, this exhibition reaffirms art as one of the most powerful bridges between generations, cultures, and hearts.

Exploring Artworks

Drawing on their own varied backgrounds and perspectives, participants explored the excitement and possibility of first encountering an unfamiliar world.

Through the creativity and expressiveness of these young artists, this exhibition brought fresh interpretation and emotion to the theme "The Beginning of a New Connection."

Each work carries its own identity and message, offering visitors a rich range of perspectives and insight. We thank everyone who joined us in this exhibition, which showed just how powerful art can be at the start of a new connection, and we hope you'll continue to support these young artists as they grow.

Media Towers Exhibition

The four Winner-selected works will be displayed to the public on the large screens of the COEX Media Tower and Parnas Media Tower near Samseong Station in Seoul. Both are massive LED signage landmarks of Seoul's outdoor advertising free-display zone, key media spaces seen by hundreds of thousands of people every day. Moving beyond gallery walls into the heart of the city, these works reach not museum-goers but everyday people passing by on the street. For young artists, it's a chance to see their work become part of the cityscape — a firsthand experience of how art meets the public and connects with society.  Real public engagement through art, and a first step as an artist. IYAC created this special art project to mark that moment on the city's biggest screens.

The 2026 IYAC Global Youth Art Contest accepted entries from May 6 to July 15, 2026, and concluded successfully with strong interest and participation from young people around the world.

Winning works selected for exhibition were shown in person at Detour Gallery in Chelsea, Manhattan, New York, from August 19 to August 23, 2026, showcasing the passion and creativity of young artists all in one place.

1. Hosting the Art Competition

A Global Youth Art Project with Korean Air · Detour Gallery · GSEF Foundation

The 2026 IYAC Global Youth Art Contest is an international youth art project hosted by MySlide, with Korean Air, Detour Gallery, and GSEF Foundation as official partners.

The event invited young people worldwide to explore the theme 'The Beginning of a New Connection' through art, expressing the emotions and possibilities held in that first encounter with an unfamiliar world.

Far more than a simple competition, IYAC is a comprehensive art platform spanning creation, judging, a New York exhibition, an awards ceremony, an art book publication, and public media display — giving young people a unique opportunity to engage with the world on their own terms and experience the power of art.

2. Awarding of the 2026 IYAC Contest Certificates

2026 6th IYAC Winner Prize

New Jersey State Senator Gordon M. Johnson offered warm encouragement and support for the 2026 IYAC winning works. The exhibition was a meaningful occasion to witness the remarkable creativity and passion of these young artists firsthand.

The winners received this honorable award, which will no doubt inspire them to take on new challenges and find fresh artistic inspiration. It was a special moment celebrating the young artists who will lead the future of art.

3. Artwork Sales and Donation Program

Expanding Young Artists' Creative Experience

During the exhibition, an 'Artwork Sales and Donation Program' ran alongside it, giving young artists the chance to sell their work and donate the proceeds.

Proceeds from sold works were either given to the creator or, with the creator's consent, donated to the Miral Welfare Foundation. Through this, participating young artists directly experienced giving through art and the meaning of social responsibility, establishing the platform's value as a virtuous cycle of creation, exhibition, sale, and donation.

4. Winners Exhibition Display

Youth Art Exhibition Held at a Major Chelsea Gallery in New York

As a centerpiece of the 6th IYAC Global Youth Art Contest, the exhibition was held at Detour Gallery in New York's Chelsea Arts District.

Featuring the top works selected through judging from young people around the world, the exhibition brought together art expressing participants' emotions and thoughts at the moment of first encountering an unfamiliar world.

Held in a space that accommodates everything from large paintings to sculptural works, the exhibition was a meaningful occasion showing how young people view the world through each other's eyes and communicate through art.
